KidneyFailure

The ESRD population is placed into three groups by treatment status(dialysis, transplant, and functioning graft). Costs are summed separately for the 4 months in the dialysis group, the 3 months in the transplant group, and the 5 months in functioning graft status.

Possible enumeration values:

Name	Value	Description
Dialysis	0	Currently on dialysis for kidney failure. Dialysis patients remain in this group until a transplant triggers a switch to the transplant group.
Transplant	1	Kidney transplantation for kidney failure. Transplantation is the replacement of a diseased organ with a healthy one. Transplant patients remain in this group for 3 months starting with the month of transplant.
FunctioningGraft	2	Functioning Graft for kidney failure. The fourth month triggers a switch to the functioning graft group where the person remains until either a new dialysis period or another transplant occurs.
